Bomb Blast

Terrorist bombings in recent years have increased the awareness of government and commercial bodies in the effects of blast loads of buildings. Of all these bombings, glass fragments represent one of the most significant prominent injury hazards to people in the building or neighboring ones.

Safety window film can offer a significant reduction in glass fragment hazards greatly in such tragedies, reducing the number of injuries or death caused by flying glass shards.

IQue Safety & Security films are tested against these bomb blast loads. Testing of IQue Safety & Security films was conducted in accordance with ASTM F1642-04 and the GSA “Standard Test Method for Windows and Glazing Systems Subject to Dynamic Overpressure Loadings”. The objective of this test is to show the window and frame system performance and level of protection as defined by the criteria set by the above-mentioned tests.

Favorable results from the Bomb Blast Mitigation Test have demonstrated the effectiveness of IQue Safety & Security films in mitigating glass fragment hazards when subjected to blast loads. IQue Safety & Security films have met the stringent US General Services Administration (GSA) testing requirements under Category C of the GSA Building Classification, achieving a GSA Performance Condition of 3B or better, which means that glass pieces shattered from the blast land no further than 3 meters from a window coated with IQue Safety & Security films. This is equivalent to a low hazard rating according to ASTM F1642-04, which equates to a high protection level provided by our films.
